6 Months Old!

I'm  Jaden is half way through his first year of life!! 6 months old and a happy go lucky little fellow. Many people often comment on how he just seems to be so content all the time, but what's to complain about...food is delivered on time everyday and he gets free rent...it doesn't get better than that!  Here are a few things I want to remember about month 6!

1. He accomplished a lot of first this month when we travelled to Pennsylvania for my best friends wedding!! First time on a plane, tractor and train!
He even rode on a 4wheeler and golf cart! He loved the golf cart, so I think we will be ready for golfing with lolly next month! He did so good traveling, he fell asleep at take off and woke up as we were pulling up to the cabin, and his journey back was the same! The times that he wasn't asleep he was entertaining the passengers around us!!

2. Jaden loves walking in his walker and jumping in his jumper.  He is the most mobile immobile baby ever! He loves to sit or stand in those things and can entertain himself for hours.  The other funny thing to watch is how much of a boy he already is while playing with his toys.  He will study the toy for a good 10 minutes and then slam it against everything he can to try and destroy it.  I watched him rip a plastic book apart, it was awesome!

3. He is a very strong and tough little guy.  Since he has learned to sit up on his own, he still has the occational tumble.  He has hit the tile a few times and just shakes it off and sits back up like it never happened.  He had his first trip to the ER a few weeks ago because he was vomitting so much he got dehydrated.  After he got his IV which I was tramatized from, he just slept in my arms for the next 24 hours.  I got the same stomach bug from him and I complained and whined for 24 hours, I thought, dang that kid is tougher than me! We have accidently bumped his head, feet and shoulders against things and he just smiles at us.  What a gracious little guy to his parent's mistakes!
In the ER getting cuddles from dad.

4. For the summer he goes to daycare 3 days a week and to Gram's house the other 2! They have so many adventures and I get daily updates to get me through work! Gram has a swimming pool, and it has been 112 around here, so next week we are going to try swimming for the first time!

5. We have started solid food! We have been making our food in our vitamix, the jury is still out on wether we like sweet potatoes or not, which is the first food outside of cereal we have tried! Next on the menu is avocados and carrots! He started eating oatmeal really well, so we at least know that if all else fails we can feed him oatmeal the rest of his life!! He is also interested in drinking whatever drink is in our hands, so if you are not careful he will grab it from you and on occasion it has landed all over me!

Here are some of my favorite pictures from this month!

5 month old

Jaden is now 5 months old!!
We went to get his shots a couple weeks ago and he weighed in at a whopping 19lbs 12 oz and 27 inches! I did my research, do you know what else weighs 20lbs?

1. A Car Tire
2. Medium sized bag of dog food
3. My purse (yeah I can feel your judgement, yes it's 20lbs, probably 15lbs of it are receipts, it drives Kyle crazy, his response when the cashiers ask me "do you want your receipt..." "Um, yes, she collects them")
4. 2 gallons of water
5.  80 sticks of butter
6. Jaden Lee David

I'm thinking I should have some muscles to show for it, haven't seen them yet, but we still have a few months until he is walking, so I have time. I am sure it is a funny sight to see everyday as I haul him into daycare as he sleeps away in his car seat..a 20 pounder's dead weight is no joke..Soon the daycare ladies are going to have to meet me halfway to the door with an oxygen mask and a snack!

I love my little 20 pounder and his funny personalily! Some things I want to remember about this month are:

1. His previous love affair with his hands have come to an end...once he found his feet, his hands became last years crush! He loves his feet! He loves playing with them, attempting to get them in his mouth and watching his toes wiggle. The moment I take off his socks, he quickly pulls them up to his face as though to say "I've missed you guys so much, this long distance thing is tough!" We once put him in a sleep sack at night and it was terrible for him because he kept bringing his feet to his face only to find them completely unreachable and covered up

2. Eating - we have begun the new adventure in babyhood of learning to eat. We have started Jaden on rice cereal, he has taken to eating almost as smoothly as he took to a bottle. He has absolutely no interest in it, but he does like playing with the spoon. So far he has rubbed it in his hair, face, hands and feet! Next month we will begin making baby food which I am excited about experimenting.

3. Sleeping in crib - we have moved Jaden from the Rock-n-Play to a crib! The first night he was up every 2 hours and we gave up and put him in the RNP around midnight, the second night we put up with it until 2am, and the last 4 nights he has waken up about 5-6 times every night and is ready to party at 4am. I wish they made a rock n play all the way up to adult size, so we could keep him there forever and always enjoy our sleep!

4. Mother's Day- it was my first Mother's Day!! I realized that baby hand prints and homemade crafts are better than any store bought present! Kyle let me sleep in, got doughnuts and him and Jaden wrote me the best note...(pretty sure he forged Jaden's signature...but we will let that go) Later on, we had Steaks over at his parents house and my friend, Dee was driving through to Texas, and stayed at our house that night!! It was a memorable day indeed. It could quite possibly be one of my new favorite holidays because, my favorite thing in the world is getting to be Jaden's mom!

5. Baby dedication- one of the coolest and most important things we were able to do in Jaden's life so far was baby dedication at church.  We got up, suited Jaden in his Sunday best..including baby shoes...which are worse then putting heels on barbies' pointed toes! Then, Seconds before our name was called to go on stage, he kicked them off...all that work for nothing. We stood in front of the church declaring that as we pray for Jaden's salvation we will love and lead him towards the Lord. It was even more special because his cousin Ali was dedicated on the same day, a few hours earlier and 900 miles away!! Thanks to technology we were able to watch it live in Lubbock and my family was able to watch Jaden in Las Vegas!

And now for some more cute 5 month old Jaden!
